Swedish Massage

Swedish massage therapy is probably the most common treatment that comes to mind when people think of a massage.  One of the primary goals of Swedish massage is to relax the entire body, this is accomplished by rubbing the muscles with long gliding strokes in the direction of the blood returning to the heart, as well as incorporating techniques such as kneading, percussion-like tapping and stretching of the muscles.

Swedish massage goes beyond relaxation, the benefits of a regular Swedish body massage may be:

  • Tension released from the muscles
  • Blood and lymphatic circulation increased
  • Skin function and appearance improved
  • Tight muscles relaxed, improving function and tone
  • Posture improved
  • Deeper and more relaxed breathing encouraged
  • Stress reduced
